We were evaluating businesses to acquire -- home health companies, industrial services, businesses that are the backbone of our economy. You'd get a 60-page CIM from a broker; there's not enough time in the day to rightly evaluate the deal.
The workflow was embarrassing. Open the PDF. Skim to the financials. Try to assess the upside. Google the industry for 10 minutes. Make a gut call. File the CIM in a folder we'd never open again.
After a few months, we had seen 30+ deals and couldn't answer basic questions: What's the average multiple we've been quoted? How many deals have we passed on? What were the common red flags?
The information existed. We'd seen it. We just hadn't structured it.
So we built Drew -- named after the analyst we couldn't afford to hire.
The first upload saved us 30 minutes. By the 20th, we were spotting patterns we never would have seen. That's the product.
